Preschool Classes

Parent and Tot- A class designed for Parents and Toddlers to be introduced to the joys of gymnastics together.  This guided one hour class will help children understand how their bodies move through the use of games and circuits.  Parents and Toddlers will both need active wear and water bottles as you will be moving together.

Recreational Gymnastics

Burgandy(Age 5 & 6) - If your child is aged 6 or older and has never participated in gymnastics then Burgundy is a great class to start in. Burgundy is the first class of the CanGym program and is a 60 minute class. Burgundy involves fun activities to teach gymnastic basics: safe landings, hangs, balances, movement and springs. A portion of each class will involve level appropriate flexibility and conditioning training. Gymnasts will receive a progress report at the end of the session outlining what skills they have mastered and what level they should register in the next session. Participants are to wear appropriate gymnastics or active wear (no street clothes) and tie back long hair. Please bring a water bottle.

Red  (Age 6 & 7) -  Red is the second badge in the CanGym program, and is a 60 minute class. Red develops further the basics learned in Burgundy. The height for saftey landings is higher, and more rotational skills (rolls down incline, roll over bar) are taught. Power hurdle progressions and swings on bars are introduced. Movement and spring skills are further developed. A portion of each class will involve level appropriate flexability and conditioning training. Gymnasts will receive a progress report at the end of the session outlining what skills they have mastered and what level they should register in the next session. Participants are to wear appropriate gymnastics or active wear (no street clothes) and tie back long hair. Please bring a water bottle.

Tan (Age 7 & 8) - Once completing Burgundy and Red, your little flipper will be ready for Tan! In continuation from the previous levels, this 60 minute class will include front and stride support, swings, and skin the cat on the bar. Rotational skills will progress to roll-out from headstands, as well as continuing with front and back rolls. Supported (wall) handstands are introduced. Movements, balances, and stationary positions continue to be taught.

Bronze ( Age 8 & 9) - Bronze is the first of three milestone badges in the CanGym program and marks the completion of the beginner levels. This 90 minute class starts to put the basics together. Athletes will learn casts, glide swings, and pullovers on the bar as well as power hurdle, dive rolls, cartwheels, and shoulder stands. A portion of each class will involve level appropriate flexability and conditioning training. Gymnasts will receive a progress report at the end of the session outling what skills they have mastered and what level they should register in the next session. Participants are to wear appropriate gymnastics or active wear (no street clothes) and rie back long hair. Please bring a water bottle.

Purple ( Age 9+ ) - This 90 minute class is a great way to transition into intermediate level of recreational gymnastics. The Purple and Blue badges focus on improving technique, skills and training habits so that gymnasts are well prepared to practice increasingly awesome gymnastic skills. Starting at Purple, the curriculum is splint into women's artistic (WAG) and men's artistic (MAG) elements (determined by make-up of the class).
